Our VISION

  • To offer art therapy and therapeutic support where there is a lack of other services available

  • To challenge the stigma of mental health support by offering a creative, accessible space and by raising awareness

Art Therapy

“The students engaged with the art therapists in a really positive manner, and the sessions helped them manage the busyness of a school day”

(SEN Lead)

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication (BAAT, 2017). Art is not used as a diagnostic tool but as a media for expression and to explore emotions without the reliance on words and cognitive thinking.  The art therapist’s role is to facilitate the communication of people’s thoughts and feelings through the use of art.

Art therapy can help to:

  • Manage and understand thoughts and feelings

  • Build resilience and self esteem

  • Give tools to manage anxiety

  • Help identify what makes you feel good

  • Provide a safe and supportive space for reflection
